Hi,
In your case the insurer cannot deny the claim on the pretext, that the date of purchase of the laptop and date of issue of the policy differs.
Insurer mean to say that before the inception of the policy cover the screen of the laptop was damaged. But as a matter of fact herein the screen broke 4 months after commencement of the policy.
Primarily, based on the information provided by you, i can say that the contention of the insurer is wrong, and without applying their mind. Further it is implied that u would have gone through the policy document and understood the terms, conditions and exclusions stated therein.
However, in case you wish to move against the insurer than you have the following options to choose:
1. Write a letter to The Grievance Cell, Insurance Co. under c.c to The Regional Manager stating facts & ask for their intervention and proper consideration in the matter Or
2. file a case against the insurer with: a. insurance ombudsman Or
b. Appropriate consumer forum Or
c. Appropriate legal forum Or
d. You may appoint a consultant to deal the matter 4 u.
