well i also had taken a policy for the term of 20 years but i am now thinking is it profitable to give Rs10000/- for a period of 20 yrs and getting a maturity amount of only Rs 230500/-.

    hey,

it is sure that your agent would have briefed you about the plan features before u decided to go for it. Any how, since now u r concerned about profitability please check the following before you conclude anything:-

    1. Whether u will get back your invested amount, if you discontinue the policy now onwards?
    2. if yes, in which year the money will be refunded to u?
    3. is there any lock in period?
    4. Is there any forfeiture, surrender clause under policy?
    5. If you discontinue during lock-in-period whether the invested amount will be refunded to you immediately or u need to pay and keep the policy inforce till the time the lock in period is over?

once the answers to the above points are with you, your decision will be rational since the question of profitability at this stage does not even apply.
