Services of TPA should be withdrawn, they are not providing proper services causing harassment to insureds.

No, i disagree, TPAs are actually struggling hard in providing good service to the general public.

Further, the service of all the TPA providers cannot be rated on account of a few unprofessional players.

Their existance has really catered to a large extend in the health sector.

Cashless facility is no doubt a blessing.

Reimbursement of claims are actually settled far quickly and in a better manner, then earlier, handled by the insurers themselves.

    Vikash hi,

There may be several reasons, my friends expereince is shared for you.

He filed a claim with a Gurgaon based TPA having branch office at kolkata but the claim was not setteled for almost few months.

He, then found out the possibilities for the dealy and reported to the higher concern of that TPA, subsequently his matter was sorted out.

    1. Claim papers were received by the TPA offices but not feeded /registered in their system. Hence the claim no. was not generated and thus the file remained unattended for more than a month till the time the entry was made.

    2. After registration, TPA took 9 days to process and settle the claim.

P.S. settlement doesnt mean the claim proceeds are released.

After setllement the TPA office indent for payment from Insurer through their accounts department for onward transmission to the insured.

    3. in his case, it took 60 days for the TPA to arrange for the payment from the insurer, may be their accounts dept. did not forward the indent to the Insurer in time or they were weak in following-up with the insurer.

but my friend kept his follow-up regularly

Ultimately my friend got the payment after 110 days and off-cource because of his vigorus follow-up. which one has to do.

Role of TPA has been both positive as well as negative in terms of customer service. Health insurance in India is booming and though health insurance providers are finding new ways to offer excellent services to their customers, the claim settlement process through TPA is what the customers dislike the most.

The solution to the problem is health insurance providers like Max Bupa which does not involve any third party interference - NO TPA in claim settlement as they want to service their customer directly with highest level of satisfaction. Thus their customers get hassle free and quick service when needed the most. Such a feature also helps in improving relationship between the customers and their health insurance company.

    Hi
I completely agree with Nikhil that one should select health insurance providers which settle claims directly rather than TPA involvement. Settling claims through TPA is very tedious and exasperating.

Infact I have also purchased a health insurance policy from Max Bupa Health Insurance and one of the major reasons for me to purchase medical insurance from Max Bupa Health Insurance is that they settle claims directly without any TPA involvement.
